Maria Jose Govea has a singular talent for capturing moments of raw energy at all kinds of shows. With that in mind, it’s hardly surprising to learn that before the sharp shooter became a music photographer, she was a DJ.

In this early interview, she tells TurnOnToronto what it’s like to capture the energy and madness of a great show:

The photographer has immortalized high-voltage vibes at Major Lazer, Disclosure and Die Antwoord concerts — getting kicked in the face at the last, but not really minding.
