DJ opening acts: how relevant should they be?

The topic of Opening acts has always been very controversial, particularly within the world of DJs. Sometimes, warm-up acts fail to realize that it is very important to respect their role when the crowd is there to see an headliner, you can't expect to engage the audience with a set-list of explosive tracks. Do what you are supposed to do and get the audience excited for the main act. Being a good supporting act will also make you look better.

On the other hand, (almost) everyone has to start from the bottom. If today you're an opening performer, tomorrow you could be the headliner. In the words of influential DJ Fabio: "You get your chance…you got to take it, it's simple as that".

Do supporting performers drain the crowd or actually psyche the audience for the main act? Join the debate at djtechtools.com.
